The new gym is appropriately sized for a middle school. The facility is also available to community groups after hours.
Union Middle’s School’s exterior columns were replaced after time and weather deteriorated the previous ones. The classic cupola was also refurbished and work was done on the roof.
A new, larger gym, better suited to accommodate 7th and 8th graders was constructed, providing ample space for student and community group use.
The existing gym was converted into three modern learning labs designed to support science and STEM initiatives along with a new nurse’s office. These projects were recently completed and now in use.
New flooring was installed in 11 classrooms and the main office to replace the floor that was buckling from water damage.
BEFORE: This Robotics class used the floor for its spread-out, hands-on, collaborative work. There was no space for lab tables.
AFTER: New modern learning labs, which occupy the former gym area, offer ample space for group collaboration and hands-on learning.
Moisture damage was corrected and new wood flooring installed in 11 rooms and the auditorium stage.
The building’s signature front columns and cupola were freshened up after years of weather damage.
