New Pierrepont classrooms offer space for smaller classes and offices.
A new, full-sized gym along with a stage was constructed at Pierrepont School, replacing the gym that was about half the size of what the state considers standard.
The old gym was demolished and replaced with a two-story, 11-classroom wing, which also houses offices.
The former multipurpose room was renovated and is now an ADA-compliant cafeteria with air conditioning and ample space for students to eat lunch.
Gates and fencing were added to the play area outside of the new cafeteria, blocking vehicle access and increasing safety for students and staff.
BEFORE: In a pre-construction photo, students are shown sitting shoulder-to-shoulder for lunch in the multipurpose room of Pierrepont.
AFTER: Students have plenty of space to eat lunch in the expanded area, which is also air conditioned and fully ADA-compliant.
The new gym is nearly twice the size of the old one, offering plenty of room for classes, athletics, and community group use. The new stage is equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, enhancing the school’s theater and music programs.
