New in-classroom restrooms at the Kindergarten Center have freed Rutherford from applying for annual waivers to this state requirement.
The Kindergarten Center was made more accessible thanks to the addition of an elevator and ramps inside and outside the building.
Bathrooms were added to three classrooms and the nurse’s office, bringing them up to state standards.
The multipurpose room was renovated, and air conditioning added, making the space more comfortable for students using it for physical education, assemblies, and lunch.
The outside recess area was improved with the reconstruction of the retaining wall and a repaired entry ramp.
New ramps were added to make the school more accessible.
An elevator now provides complete accessibility to the Kindergarten Center. Until then, accommodations in this multi-level school required the difficult and time-consuming use of a chair lift.
